Bedtime Stories

Every kid loves a good bedtime story. Something in which the prince and the princess unite for ever and ever. Something in which good triumphs over evil. Something in which ultimately all ends well. It helps put the troubles of the day behind and pave the way to a good night’s sleep. But is it just kids who need a bedtime story?

I would say that we all need one. But alas! After a certain age, nobody thinks us fit for it. Nobody is there to read one to us. So what! Now that we are adults and know how to read, we can help ourselves. Our interests have also grown in their length and breadth. That means we can read about a variety of subjects. Also, I believe that a good story is a good story, no matter in which medium it is presented. Therefore, one doesn’t have to always read up to savour a story. There are so many other methods too like watching a film or television show.

Do any of these before going to bed and you are guaranteed a big smile on your lips while laying down as well as getting up. In between, you get a wonderful night’s sleep, at times even garnished with a lovely dream or two.

The child in us still wants a bedtime story. Don’t deprive it of its desire. All is well that ends well. End your day well. End it with a story.
