My Heart on a Plate

Garnished with sweetness,
Plated with care,
My Heart I presented
To you on a plate.

Oozing with love,
Coated with courage,
My Heart I presented
To you alone.

But apparently,
You had a different taste.
Most obviously,
You didn’t care enough.

For you dropped
My Heart
Even before
You had a good look.

And there it lay
Broken on the ground.
A million pieces
Of what was once one.

If only
You had tasted it,
You would have known,
It was all you ever needed.
