Yet, we chose to trust
When we should not have.
Thus, we stand betrayed.

Was it our naive nature?
Or their over-smart opportunitism?
What was to really blame?
Either way, we stand betrayed.

When a connection breaks,
There’s still hope of revival.
When trust breaks, all ends,
As we stand betrayed.

The only remedy is to swear
Never to do to another
What was done to us.
