Today’s Tiny Tale: Lesson

Everyone thought she was a mistake to be forgotten.

He thought she was a lesson to be remembered.

She was the reason he did not mess up with his next.

  1. Another dynamo, Mia, extracting intense power from a few words.

Question is, can we muster the emotional detachment necessary to appreciate such a lesson? For many, and perhaps most, of us, that detachment does come, but years too late to help much. For good or for bad, we invest far too much emotion is relationships for it to be otherwise.

Reminds me of a meme I saw recently, wherein a clearly frustrated woman lists all the things she hates about a guy, and finishes by telling him she never wants to see him again.

The recipient of this ire, Mr. Spock, looks on impassively and observes, “Duly noted.”

The point is, I suppose, if you’re a Vulcan, it’s relatively easy to use the recently-passed relationship as a teaching moment. Maybe for the rest of us, though, not so much.

    1. Thanks a ton for your appreciation, Keith! 🙂

Star Trek fan, huh? 😅 Indeed, a good example to put across the point!

I read somewhere that hate is not the opposite of love. Indifference is. So when one finds someone good enough to automatically make us indifferent towards all others before, then that detachment comes. 🙂
