Best Thing All Week

Running like crazy
Behind a speeding suitcase,
He emerged.

Alone holding a plate of dumplings
In his way,
She happened to be.

Bewildered,
She stood rooted,
Not knowing about the next second.

Screeching to a halt,
He looked up at her from his suitcase
And smiled, rather broadly.

It was a beautiful smile
From a handsome foreigner
Who didn’t crash into her.

Agreeing so,
Feeling amused,
She smiled back.

Again speeding, again eating,
Going their own ways, both thought
It was the best thing to happen all week.

  1. I always wonder if such encounters are their own reward or if they could pretend some deeper continuing relationship. Inevitably, I move on, still wondering, but feeling certain I will not see the lovely person again, and feeling sad about that.

    1. Thanks a lot for commenting, Roger! πŸ™‚
You are not the only one wondering about this! There are so many others too. But like you said, people move on. If it really makes one sad, then I suggest pausing. Pause and start a conversation with the lovely person. Who knows if the stars align, what might transpire! 🌸
