You Are Enough

When you are told
Multiple times a day
You are not enough,
What do you do?

Do you accept it,
If not consciously,
Then subconsciously
And replay it to never forget it?

When you are made to feel
Multiple times a day
You are worthless,
What don’t you do?

Don’t you dare
Question it,
Test it,
Prove it wrong?

When you are hurt
Multiple times a day
By those closest to you,
What do you feel?

Sometimes a lot,
Sometimes even more
That it feels
Close to nothing?

The next time it happens,
Tell them,
Tell yourself,
You are enough.

Say it out loud
With your voice,
With your whole being,
You are enough.

Even if no one believes in you,
If you believe in yourself,
It is enough.
You are enough.

  1. A wonderful message in your poem. Hearing criticism aimed at you can really get you down. Then hearing “you are enough” is powerful in the other direction. Reminds me of how Mister Rogers ended each episode of his TV show with “I like you just the way you are.” A few people have told me that was cheesy, but I think it’s a powerful message of goodness.

  2. Definitely we’re enough, but sometimes we should try to excel ourselves, but not making our self esteem and confidence low. What do you think?By the way, great thinking with cute rhythm 😄😄
