This is the Life

I stare out of my window
To watch the rain falling down,
Rhythmically, almost musically,
Without any urgency,
On the lush greenery,
As I munch on a packet of chips,
Savoring their taste,
Without any urgency,
Without a care in the world,
Thinking, “This is the life.”

Of course, I have many a care,
Real-life things so big,
That if I start counting,
I won’t be able to even see the rain.
So even if this life is not yet ideal,
For few moments,
I choose
To enjoy myself.
I choose to actually feel,
“This is the life.”

  1. This poem reminds us that life isn’t always perfect, but we can always choose to pause, savor a moment, and recognize its value. That choiceβ€”making space for calm, for small beautyβ€”is what turns an ordinary moment into a fulfilling one.
