If you knew
Someone would be
The ruin of you,
Would you still love
Like it was the end of the world?
Some people don’t know
To love wisely,
To love in moderation,
To love as much as they are loved.
But like it was the end of the world.
I just wish
Those people were not few,
That love was not rare.
I wish if we could all
Love like it was the end of the world.
I recall a poem—from the 1960s, I believe—by Vinicius de Moraes, which says, “may love be infinite while it lasts.” It is a brilliant reference to a feeling that we all experience—though, as you and I both agree, in different ways.

Thank you so much for stopping by to share, Fernando. 😊
Yes, it isn’t truly love if it is defined by restrictions like everything else.

Sometimes loving without measure can hurt, but that’s also what makes love so special. I like that invitation to truly love, without reservation, as if each day were the last.
Best regards.

Just doing what one can without any expectation won’t hurt. It is the not expecting part that is difficult though.
