They told you
Not once,
Not twice,
But again and again and again
That you are not good enough.
They thought the repetition
Will drill it
Into your mind,
Into your soul
That you are not good enough.
They were sure that
You will give up,
You will stop
Out of exhaustion accepting
That you are not good enough.
But there you are
Not once,
Not twice,
But again and again and again
Trying.
But like clockwork, you
Will drill it
Into your mind,
Into your soul
To keep trying.
But you don’t know how
You will give up,
You will stop
Out of exhaustion accepting
Anything but trying, till you’re the standard.
Nice allegory, Mia. and literature, here in your post poetry, really needs to be enjoyed with lots of love and joy. My hug!🍀

My favorite thing about this piece is that certain lines keep on repeating. Coincidentally, the theme of the piece is someone REPEATING something over and over. There is repetition in subject and repetition in content. That duality is very enticing!

Encouraging people to be crative, to think for themselves, to take decisions for themselves, to not be led by others, are so important if we are to lead healthy lives. You have captured so many of these elements in your poem. Well written indeed.

Incredible poem Mia. All about struggles and triumph. Well written and I believe even the talented stars are not good enough because no one is perfect🙌

Yes, no one is perfect & each one knows it. 😅 Which is why doing our best & trying till we make it is good enough.
